Editor Role

If you have been accepted as an authorized user, you will be able to log in with your WSU username and password.  Once you have done this, you will come to a screen that looks like this:

The purple sidebar to the left will allow you to chose your role.  As the editor of your web-based application, you will only have access to the "EDITOR" role, and as such should be the only option available.  Once you click on it, a submenu will appear with choices to either manage the "SMS Services" options or the the "Mobile Applications" options.  The "SMS Services" page will allow you to manage text notifications and subscription accounts, and the "Mobile Applications" page will allow you to manage the content of your web-based mobile applications.

SMS SERVICES

When you chose the "SMS Services" option from the "EDITOR" role submenu, the following screen will appear:

As you can see, there are three different options you will be able to chose from - Notifications, Recipients, and Subscriptions.  Let us focus on each of these options.

1.  NOTIFICATIONS

If you choose the "Notifications" option, a drop-down form will appear as such:

The "Notice" field is a drop-down menu that will allow you to choose from each of the notifications you have created.  Each notification will assume a title based on the scheduled date and time of your notification.  To create a new notification, click on the "Add" button.

If you click on the "Scheduled" field, a drop-down calendar will appear.  You can use this calendar to either choose to send the notification immediately after creating it, or to send the notification in the future.  If you wish to send it immediately, choose today's date.  Otherwise, choose a different future date.

The field next to the "Scheduled" field is a drop-down menu that will allow you to chose the time that the notification is to be sent.  This field will not be available to you if you chose to send the notification immediately, as you will not need to select a time in that case.

After you choose the date and time, you will be able to enter the message your notification will send in the "Message" field.  Keep in mind that the maximum length for one single message is 160 characters.  If you exceed this length, the notification will be sent out as two different messages, and could cause a great inconvenience to your recipients.

The "Save button will simply allow you to save your notification.  Once you have done this, if you have chosen to send the saved notification sometime in the future, it will be sent automatically at the date and time specified.  If you have chosen to send it immediately, the "Send" button will appear in place of the "Save" button.  By clicking on this button, you will be able to send your saved notification manually.  Once you do this, a conformation message will appear.  Click "Send Now" to confirm.

The "Edit" button will allow you to edit any one of your notifications, or edit the date and time the notification is to be sent.  This option can be selected once the notification has been saved.  After you have made the desired changes, the "Update" button will be available in place of the "Edit" button to save these changes.

If you wish to remove a notification, click on the "Remove" button.  A confirmation message will appear.  Click on "Confirm" to confirm the removal of your notification.

2.  RECIPIENTS

If you choose the "Recipients" option, a drop-down form will appear as such:

This form will allow you to see a record of your sent notifications, the number of subscribers who have received your notifications, and the number of replies to each notification.  You can view each of these replies simply by clicking on "Replies."

Once you have done this, the reply(ies) will appear in a drop-down message.  If the reply is inappropriate or offensive, or if the subscriber has requested for you to do so (in which case it is required of you to do so), you can cancel their subscription simply by clicking on "Cancel Subscription," which can be seen at the bottom of the reply.

3.  SUBSCRIPTIONS

If you choose the "Subscriptions" option, a drop-down form will appear as such:

This is simply a list of each WSU Mobile notification service, and the number of people who have subscribed to each service.  You can use this option to compare the number of people who have subscribed to each of your services to the number of people who have subscribed to other services as well.

MOBILE APPLICATIONS

If you click on the "Apps" option (seen in the images on this site as "Mobile Web Sites") in the "EDITOR" submenu, you will come to a screen that will look something very similar to this:

This is the basic layout for the web-based application you are developing, which in this case is entitled "MBA Program."  The following options are the names of different pages on the application, which will be created, as well as defined by one of six different types of pages, by those with access to the "DEVELOPERS" role.  These six different pages are described more in detail under the pages mentioned in the tabs bar on this page.  These pages can be defined as unstructured content, lists, accordions, event calendars, rosters, and URL lists.

If you click on any one of the options listed in the image above, a drop-down form will appear, which will be a form provided by the Toolkit based on what type of page it has been defined as.  These are the tools you will be working with in managing and maintaining the pages of your web-based application.
